Plant Sale Recap
It has been months since we planted our first seeds in February for our beautiful state flower, the Columbine. Columbine seeds require stratification, a process of putting the seeds in the fridge at night and bringing them back out into the light during the day. Every morning, we loving brought the seeds into the light, and every evening, put them back into the cold they love. We were rewarded with high germination rates, and lots of baby columbines to care for. Shortly after we planted the columbines, we planted violas, pansies, bell peppers, and kale. The call came about 4 o’clock in the afternoon. “Peggy” asked for me, and she quickly explained that she did not have much...

(OK, some of them gave me a good natured laugh as well!) Perhaps it was wishful thinking. I am more than ready to see leaves on trees, wildflowers and weeds growing beside the road and my feet in sandals. It seems I will...
