Workshop mornings are always a clamor of greetings: “Good morning, Joe!” “Janet, how has your week been?” “How are you today, Miss A?” “I’m hanging in there, Jennay, how are you?” This cacophony of hearing one another’s names spoken is one of my favorite parts of the day. It has been months since we planted our first seeds in February for our beautiful state flower, the Columbine. Columbine seeds require stratification, a process of putting the seeds in the fridge at night and bringing them back out into the light during the day. Every morning, we loving brought the seeds into the light, and every evening, put them back into the cold they love.
