EarthLinks’ 5th Annual Plant Sale wrap up

Many thanks to everyone who joined us at the EarthLinks’ 5th Annual Plant & Garden Sale. Because of the variety of plants, vegetables, herbs, flowers, products and the added bonus of Laura Matthews’ educational talks and healthy natural products from Holistic Pathways, the Plant Sale was a huge success.  Because of your support, we raised over $8,000 at the Plant Sale combined with the Mother’s Day Plant sale at Jefferson Unitarian Church!  This is a huge accomplishment that will go a long way to support our program of community ending isolation. Your gifts of time,...

She has experienced the complexities of homelessness for the last two years, and luckily obtained transitional housing last November. I joyfully moved her in, but reserved my gregarious right because the transition was not all glory for her. It’s hard work to sleep in a room full of bunk beds and suddenly have your own. I’ve seen her nearly every week since and the way she lights up when flowers in the EarthLinks garden arch at indescribable angles. Yet, fear incapacitates her. She lost...

Becoming a Companion on the Journey

Jennay Smith joined EarthLinks in August, 2012, through the Colorado Vincentian Volunteers. Over the course of the year, Jennay has assisted with many aspects of our work, most notably through her leadership in the EarthLinks Workshop Program. This is Jennay’s final blog reflection before the conclusion of her program this week. She will be sorely missed. One of the many benefits of working at EarthLinks for a year (my worksite placement through the Colorado Vincentian Volunteer program) is the accumulation of random knowledge which comes from the hodgepodge of duties making up my job...
